Art day with Gosha Gibek

On Thursday 21st October, we welcomed local artist, Gosha Gibek into class to teach us about colour mixing and blending and to help us to paint local landscapes using acrylic paints.

We loved learning from and working with Gosha, and everyone was really impressed with the work produced.

"I learnt how to mix colours and not make it brown!  I also learnt how to do a colour wheel.  I liked it a lot," Gracie.

"I enjoyed mixing the colours and making new colours," Ellie.

"I liked making new colours and learning how to make them paler," Sienna.

"I learnt that artists take months and weeks and hours on end!" Isobel.

"I learnt how to do shadows and I never knew to do that before.  I really liked that it was such a colourful day!" Ruby.

"I learnt that when you are painting, you don't have to use colours from real-life, you can change them to brighter colours," Arabella.

"I learnt how to make different shades of colours," Kate.

Local history research at the library

We visited the library to learn about life in Waddington in 1881. We looked at census returns and maps, as well as handling and learning about household objects from the time.

Local Area Walk and Fieldwork

We walked into the village to look at different land uses, and to identify human and physical features within the village.  Along the way, we added to a map by using symbols to represent churches, public houses, the river and the bridge.
